UtilityHut is an independent workshop and retailer founded in 2015. We design, source, and finish modular storage, hardware, and lifestyle goods from our Johannesburg studio, shipping reliably to every province.
Our story began in a small garage restoring vintage storage trunks. Today, the UtilityHut team partners with metalworkers, timber specialists, and textile makers across South Africa to shape collections that balance rugged performance with refined detailing.
Each release is hand-finished in small runs, stress-tested in real homes and studios, and supported with maintenance guides so you can keep it performing for the long haul. From powder-coated storage systems to adaptive outdoor gear, every item is designed to handle local climates and everyday friction.
We operate a carbon-neutral fulfilment chain, recycle or reuse our packaging, and dedicate a portion of each purchase to our Maker Development Programme—equipping emerging creators with tooling, mentorship, and access to e-commerce channels.
